It all began with a fateful encounter. I met a little puppy named April in a forlorn spot. She was still unweaned, huddled with her siblings in a ramshackle area. Their mother, a 13 - year - old dog under the care of an elderly neighbor, had passed away, leaving these pups in desperate need of homes.

When I arrived with treats, all the puppies but one swarmed around eagerly. April, however, stayed in the corner. Intrigued, I walked towards her. Then, a touching moment happened: she extended her tiny paw as if to shake hands. At that instant, I knew she was meant to be with me.
